Still, great fun! The monster spends most of the movie with bloody sputum dribbling out his mouth from people who misunderstand him beating him up. When Talbot changes to the Wolf Man, the two creatures battle each other. I read the other reviews and it looks like they are reviewing a totally different movie. The old ones are the best great film I can recommend it thank you As it was selling for a low price I decided to buy it as it also came with so many bonus features which I found more appealing than the movie itself. I've liked the book. The other reviews act as if this is the 1930's version, but it is most definitely not. That being said I gave it a watch and found it to be as bad as I expected it to be. What does those stupid things represent? i found this film o k , i reckonised some of the actors from Dracula, Renfield and Van Helsing, considering the year it was made ,it was well done, but this is another film that could have been longer , Frankenstein doesnt have long to run amok, and his character doesnt have time to come through, but its still a bit off good old fashion horror. One of the sons of Frankenstein finds his father's monster in a coma and revives him, only to find out he is controlled by Ygor who is bent on revenge. I want to watch the film with the commentary but the symbols are gibberish: a square, a square with an X in it and a sort of inverted arrow bent in the middle. It is not only piggy bank change budget, but the story is stupid. Whilst both the blackly comic Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and the action-packed Son of Frankenstein (1939) are superior to this movie, from a historical perspective this first film with Karloff as the Frankenstein Monster is one of talking cinema's great early achievements, and a monument to his status as the horror genre's first real star. "Frankenstein" establishes itself as a notable box-office subject.
