Kerouac became depressed and a heavy drinker before the long-term effects of his head injuries, if there were any, would likely have manifested.
Married and divorced twice, Kerouac lived a troubled life marked by periods of self-destruction. "I'm glad to see you 'cause I'm very lonesome here," he said, and then talked for a moment about the proposed new novel. If he had hung around and been a father to me, he wouldn’t have written all his books.”Jan’s other major battle was with John Sampas, the brother of Jack’s last wife. She had suffered kidney failure five years prior and had been on dialysis, said Gerald Nicosia, her father’s biographer. To keep her memory alive, Kerouac biographer Gerald Nicosia has assembled an anthology of first-person narratives remembering Jan. Nicosia, who at one time was Jan Kerouac’s personal literary representative, has edited and published a book of tributes to her, entitled FAMpeople is your site which contains biographies of famous people of the past and present. He did not explain how this would occur, since the family was not directly involved in the lawsuit.
