They say the new wood holds are great. Also I've heard from friends and watching Hoseok Lee on youtube that the 2019 set is even more sandbagged than the previous two which is always good for ego checking.I've bought the 2019. That being said Id pick the 2016 anyway because it’s cheaper to own just three hold sets and I love the climbs on there.The 2019 board is still growing. From what I've gathered from past threads, a large majority say that 2016 is the best training for outdoors, 2017 is more approachable for beginners, and 2019 has more wooden holds which is better for the skin. I prefer 2017 because I can do 4x4 on it. I drew inspiration from Reddit, Instagram, Venmo, and Mountain Project.
I think if you are below a v5, 2019 is the best. This video is unavailable. Personally I think the beginner friendly aspect of 2017 isn't really worth much since the whole point of a moonboard is that it's a training tool, it's not meant to be easy. I only climbed on the 2019 set a bit before the lockdown and enjoyed it, but not sure I saw an advantage over 2016 unless you want more options in V3 range. Plus I'm not a fan of the red holds since they're somehow simultaneously too juggy and incredibly rough on the skin, even more so than the white and black holds. I haven't tried 4x4 on 2016 but I would guess that it is harder since there's less jugs.I'd guess if you climb v7 you'd be able to run 4x4 on the board.

Which set of holds would you choose for yourself and your training, and why? Requests are Open! The yellow hold set (small crimps/ pinches) on the 2017 more or less forces you to go through the same few yellow holds in the middle.
