Exterior Firefighter Operations

There are no specific application deadlines or set start dates. Under NFPA 1001, Standards for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, firefighters are required to know the extinguishing properties of water and foam products, the various nozzles available and their characteristics, as well as how to select, operate, and maintain them. Courses can also be delivered online and in-person, at a JIBC campus or designated firefighter training facility in the community. The Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2 Certifications use job performance requirements to measure the knowledge and skills needed as a firefighter.
