Delaney is the pseudonym of a writer who has previously published best-selling fiction under another name. Abbie had disappeared five years ago leaving behind her husband Tim and their Austin son. I don’t want to give away too much about this book, but I was very pleasantly surprised that, instead of the plain old psychological suspense of the author’s previous books, this one has an element Abbie Scott awakens to discover that, through the wonders of science, she has been saved to return to her life with her husband Tim, a tech entrepreneur, and Danny their autistic son. Welcome back. One day, the daughter whose whole world you once were, becomes someone you barely know. I finally have everything I ever wanted. Former-male Eric is having the strangest and hottest day of his life.

I am on record as being solidly anti sci-fi but this is JP Delaney we are talking about so naturally it is mesmerizing, compulsively readable, disturbing and fascinating.This book is crazy and NOTHING like most of what I read.

To be honest, I read this book by mistake, thinking it was one with the same title by a different author.

Her memory has lapses and gradually Abbie begins to wonder whether her previous life had been as perfect as Tim says. Magic and myth, getting real and standing up for what’s right, love and longing, growing up and falling in love. The author has an autistic son, so he is speaking from experience here. She says she’s not. I wont be bothering to seek their solution.This book just didn't resonate on any level with me. Abbie is the eponymous 'perfect wife' with its echoes of the Stepford Wives, who awakens in hospital after 5 years, with no memories of who she is and how she came to be here.

There were a few plot holes and I could see a few of the twists coming, but all in all, it was a really clever book and one I suspect I wonIt took me a long time to finish this book, although it's far from boring.
