Dystopian societies are frightening. There were a few action scenes, but not many and they were spread out. The book is filled with suspense. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. However, Oliver's nightmare future lacks a visceral punch, primarily because of the weakness of the world-building.
