no snow here in summer, but a sweet place for a quick stop on a road trip!My kids and I had the BEST snow play time last week (just before the weather warmed up). We bought sleds and found an open area to play in. The parking pass was cheap and it is perfect for free play. You won't be getting any more?
It definitely is a small parking lot with only 1 way driving. Donner Summit … It wasn’t looking good, but nothing seemed broken.When I looked at the tree and the menacing broken branches protruding from it, I know now how lucky I am.
We purchased the online day pass (just go to google and type in donner summit snopark pass), turned my auto lock to "never" on my iPhone and left it on my dashboard. Couldn't even even the day and it was ruined.Perfect place for fun in the snow with the family! Both my arm and my butt immediately started to swell. It was like a winter paradise. We saw some people inattentively standing in the way of others trying to go downhill. Tried going there on 1/4/2020 and the place was VERY unorganized. Hey need to monitor traffic and parking up front instead of letting all the cars go knowing there isn't a single spot for parking. Arrived to find a circus of Parking. You need permits through May! Wouldn't go back.We had a great time here, kids love it and is nice to find your on sledding space and explore parking was easy we had no issues at all will go back again! The Donner Summit Sno-Park is one of 19 California State Sno-Parks that make expansive, protected snow play areas available for only a small fee per vehicle. It's only February. Great lot with an upper hill area for sledding or inner tubing. “Donner Summit Sno-Park is right next to the Boreal Inn and requires a Sno-Park permit that either costs $5/day or $25/season. !Was disappointed... there were a few cool little sled runs on little hills in between trees... with a semi frozen river between them and the parking lot.
