Another option is to upgrade one cymbal at a time. The result is a deeper, warmer tone that is complex musically. I'm a bit of a Zildjian loyalist, but the Byzance series to me is much more consistently interesting from cymbal to cymbal compared to, say, Zildjian K. More color and more character more often, etc. An Istanbul cymbal has 10 times the hammer marks that a Sabian or Paiste cymbal does. In addition, there is a 22” model that comes in 3 different weights. Together, these provide multifunctionality and all-around capability.
