My only criticism is that, although it is discussed in places and not ignored entirely, this book very much centred around one strain of feminism e.g. The police’s lackadaisical attitude sparks anger and then protests in the community, turning it into a war zone. :)While the protagonist is a junior, I think the target audience for the book is a bit younger. For empowering themselves and others to speak up and beautifully supporting each other.Young Teens learning about feminism for the first timeI wasn't going to read Moxie. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did, but I found myself joining Viv on her emotional rollercoaster, getting angry at the parts she was angry over, and almost being moved to tears during some parts. If you’re a woman of any age, who is growing to realise that our fight for equality is far from over, this book is the book for you.

However, I thoroughly enjoyed each and every page of this book and finished it feeling a sense of pride for the feminists out there, both loud and quiet, who are pushing themselves to fight for what’s right.Well that was just all around fantastic, wasn't it. Vivan’s a ‘nice girl’ and keeps to herself but fantasizes about her mom’s riotous past. The fact that the love interest identified as a feminist was enough to bring tears to my eyes. As a young woman, I’ve had my fair share of misogyny and objectification thrown at me. Vivian is the dutiful daughter of a former 1990s Riot Grrl. It’s unfortunately down to us to make noise, and this story may just inspire some girls to do just that. Moxie is an upcoming American comedy-drama film directed by Amy Poehler, based on the novel of the same name by Jennifer Mathieu.

Physical descriptions are limited, suggesting a white default, but naming conventions suggest some diversity among the swim team members. Soon, a Viv’s new world of boyfriends, new friends, and feminism, all whilst keeping her involvement in When I was at school, I remember being told things like, “you’re forbidden to wear strappy tops and leggings so you don’t distract the male teachers” (no joke, this happened multiple times). I think my grade 8 & 9 students are going to be more interested in it than my grade 10-12 students, who tend to appreciate novels with a bit more moral and literary complexity.I’m going to be very transparent in the fact that I am never going to stop obsessing over this book.

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter is a black girl and an expert at navigating the two worlds she exists in: one at Garden Heights, her black neighborhood, and the other at Williamson Prep, her suburban, mostly white high school.

I loved that it surrounded young girls fighting for their rights. by Roaring Brook Press Thomas cuts to the heart of the matter for Starr and for so many like her, laying bare the systemic racism that undergirds her world, and she does so honestly and inescapably, balancing heartbreak and humor. They also have to decide what to do with friends who let them down now and then. They were meant to replace Bratz, but Bratz came back eventually. Moxie is the story of Vivan Carter, whose mom was once a riot grrrl, but any evidence now sleeps in a box in the closet while her mom works extra shifts as a nurse. For empowering themselves and others to speak up and beautifully supporting each other.I pretty much inhaled this book.

Yes, he got involved in the Seth embodies many of the men we know and love in our lives; the men who stand by us in our I see this time and again, where the men I know are surprised when I explain the sort of misogyny we woman experience daily, and it’s not their fault that they don’t know about it.
