The Xist Series IONs (featuring a series of symmetrical holes cut into the cymbal surface) were welcome additions to an ever-expanding catalogue of contemporary cymbals from Istanbul Agop - not to be confused with fellow Turkish artisans Istanbul Mehmet. Bath It's up to you to decide.

I have Mehmet Traditional ride, crashes, and hi-hats and I think they are great. I'm a Istanbul Agop player myself and have never played or heard any Istanbul Mehmet cymbals so can't offer a opinion first hand. Heading outwards (away from an unworked, unlathed plain bell), is an array of seemingly random hammer blows.

From what I know is the Mehmet is little bit more thashier and sound more like old Turkish cymbals while the Agop are more conservative and sound maybe little bit cleaner.

Very complex & dark with loud bark when play open/close.This is the first time I've joined in so hope it's helpful. When compared to some of the more ‘traditional’ or darker sounding models in the range, the initial ‘crash’ of both may be just a tad sharper, but the tail off/sustain is not too dissimilar to a traditional model. And Bosphorus are really nice too.Has anyone seen one of these mehmet 15" ride cymbals?
