In early 2018, Emirates launched a new First Class product on a small number of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and the new cabin was instantly hailed as the best First Class product in the skies.Shortly after the initial excitement started to fade, people started noticing one small issue when it came to booking the super-deluxe product – it was very hard to find.Even today, Emirates has just 9 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in its fleet which are equipped with its new First Class cabin and, for an airline with over 265 aircraft in total, that isn’t very many at all – that makes it even more important to keep an eye on which routes Emirates new First Class can be found.Emirates’ new 777 First Class cabin features just 6 First Class suites (compared to 14 older suites on the A380) and is a quite remarkable product.The suites are completely different from what is offered on any other Emirates aircraft and offer incredible levels of privacy courtesy of floor to ceiling walls.The 6 suites are arranged in a 1-1-1 cabin layout which means that two of the suites don’t have access to the aircraft’s windows….and this was an issue for Emirates.Emirates didn’t like the thought that two of its First Class flyers wouldn’t be able to see what’s going on in the outside world so, at quite some expense, the airline installed virtual windows for these suites.The virtual windows use images taken from cameras built into the exterior of the aircraft to project live high definition views on to the “windows” built into the center suites.How that for futuristic technology in the skies?!
