Note: If you set up your Netgear router as an extender (wireless repeater), important routing functions like network traffic management are not active. It has a Wireless Repeating Function in the admin settings but I'm not sure how to go about it. Your router takes .1 or 192.168.1.1 and subsequent devices (computers, xbox, phone) will take up additional addresses and they may not be sequential. Log into the interface of the wireless router. also 54Mbps with WEP must be used I just purchased a Netgear WNR2000V5 (from the trusty Newegg) to use as a wireless repeater (range extender) for a small business.

Give the wireless router (access point/switch) an ip address on the same network as DHCP server (router).
