I felt that the owner gave me expert advice; he was not at all pushy, rather, we shared our love of music, and I spent many visits in the listening room (I brought some of my own LPs as well) before making my final decision. (I should note that I had initially gone to Stereo Exchange and got such rude and obnoxious service that I actually left the store angry. I have a budget for an amp+loudspeakers and cables of ~$15-20,000.

Some salesmen can be a bit on the pretentious side when you are dealing with audiophile equipment, but not at this store. Friendly and down to earth.
