Without a doubt the tightest, smallest, least comfortable seat since the days of Airtran. SeatGuru User on These seats are the most cramped and uncomfortable of any flight I've taken in many years. The seat itself is padded well and comfortable, but getting out for the bathroom is a chore.
This is an updated aircraft which has a IFE in every seatback - welcome surprise. After reading other comments about how uncomfortable these seats were going to be, I expected much worse. 2016/08/23 for Seat 9A and 9B Great Econ+ seat. SeatGuru User on Good move United. Rick D on The window seat protrudes a bit into the shoulder and arm area. George A on It is so tight you cannot reach down and access your bag under the seat in front of you. Switch flights or pay for premium seating in the Main "Extra" seats. The airplane’s board is divided into two classes. I am 6'2", and could barely fit into the seat. AA got this plane layout totally wrong - I purchased a First Class seat and while the FE screen was nice the seat pitch is less than the old MD80.
I literally could not fully open my laptop with the seat in front "upright". New 120V outlets at all seats.
2. When AA introduced the A319 a few years ago I thought it was horrible and said so on this site.

This was a newly renovated ex-US A319 which has the same seat setup and features as the legacy AA A319, minus the seatback TV. The extra charge for this seat is money well spent, since recent experience in seats further aft suggest a much more cramped experience. Worse plane in the United fleet. 2016/12/20 for Seat 11A
I am 6-3, and even at 31" inch pitch they are satisfactory.

Second, seatguru please change every seat in economy to red, unless you are 5 feet tall. The problem with AA is they are trying to make more money and expecting customers to live with their actions.
