The Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF) is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation constituted through and recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). ARISF is the world authority regrouping all 42 International Olympic Committee Recognised International Sport Federations. The other groups are the Association of IOC Recognised International Sport Federations (ARISF), the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) and the Association of Winter Olympic International Federations (AIOWF). The ARISF's members are international sports federations recognised by the IOC that currently do not compete in either the Summer or Winter Olympics. Its membership includes 116 National Cheer Federations on all continents - reaching over 5 million athletes globally. The IOC requires a high geographical scope for inclusion in the Olympics, but netball is mostly played in Commonwealth countries. The AIMS President, Stephan Fox, was joined by Vice President, General Secretary, and Council members. This includes sports that are part of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) and the Association of the IOC Recognised International Sports (ARISF). This will further contribute towards fulfilment of all criteria for full membership and also to increase the possibility of each observers’ members receiving the required recognition by the highest national sport authorities and or national Olympic committees.GAISF is the entry point in joining the Olympic family. The Council is composed of a President, Vice-President, Secretary General and three members, all from different sports federations.The following 42 governing bodies are members of the ARISF.Rugby union has been a men's medal sport at the modern Summer Olympic Games, being played at four of the first seven competitions.
